Why people hunt it
Clearview Edie, a 2014 Richard Parshall introduction, won the Stanley Johnson Medal in 2019 and ranks eighth on the Fab 50 for 2025 with 131 ribbons. The Clearview name is the most represented breeder family on the entire Fab 50, with seven cultivars in the top fifty, a sign of just how dominant Parshall's program has been on the show bench. Edie is the clean white standout of the line. The Clearview farm itself has gone quiet, but the varieties live on through resellers, which keeps the demand and the supply both moving.
Growing notes, including the hard parts
Clearview Edie is a large white semi-cactus, the form whose pointed petals roll back partway for a spiky, energetic look quite different from a soft decorative. At eight to ten inches it is a big, dramatic bloom that needs real support and rewards disbudding. Standard care otherwise. It is one of the most decorated whites on the show circuit, so if you want to grow a champion semi-cactus, start here. Clearview Jonas and AC Ben are its neighbors in the big show-cactus class, all large, all bench winners.
