ADS form P
Pompon dahlias
More globular than a ball and no more than 2 inches across, with florets rolled inward along their whole length. The most precise form the genus makes.
Profiled pompon varieties
Small World
Milky white, honeycombed pompons. Idlewild Blooms notes delicate burgundy flecks can develop later in the season, so early flushes are the cleanest white.
Wizard of Oz
Pale powder pink, deeper at the heart of each bloom. My Dahlia Society describes soft pink centers with petals lightening almost to white toward the edges.
Burlesca
An antique blend of old pink, apricot, and plum that shifts with the light, often opening around a green button center when fresh. Ashridge sells it simply as apricot and plum.
Koko Puff
Smoky mauve. Idlewild Blooms calls it a stunning dusty rose pompon that looks more lavender in some weather, and that indecision between rose and lavender is the entire appeal.
Golden Scepter
A warm clear golden yellow on a tight little globe, the go-to small yellow for designers.
